Keep your older PHP website working—and make it easier to use.

I repair, maintain, and revamp existing PHP websites and custom applications. That can mean fixing a broken feature, updating the design, upgrading PHP, or taking over a site your original developer no longer supports.

Tell Mark about your PHP website

What needs attention on your site?

  • Pages or forms stopped working after a hosting change.
  • The site needs a PHP upgrade, but you do not know what will break.
  • The layout is difficult to use on a phone.
  • A previous developer left without documentation.
  • You need new features while keeping the existing database and workflows.
  • You want someone to handle future fixes and maintenance.

A revamp does not always require a complete rebuild

A dated interface can sometimes be replaced while keeping useful application code. A PHP version upgrade may need targeted compatibility fixes rather than a new system. In other cases, the code has become expensive to maintain and replacement deserves consideration.

I review the application before recommending a direction. The aim is to identify what can stay, what needs repair, and which changes are worth paying for.

PHP upgrades and migration services

A version change can affect language behavior, libraries, database connections, and framework compatibility. I check those dependencies, test important workflows in a separate environment, and plan deployment and rollback before changing the live site.

An upgrade should include the jobs visitors never see: scheduled imports, email delivery, payments, admin screens, and third-party connections. Passing a homepage check alone is not enough.

Design and usability improvements

A PHP website revamp can improve navigation, forms, mobile layouts, and the screens staff use every day. We agree on which screens need work and check the revised interface against the real tasks people perform.

If public URLs must change, the plan should include redirects, internal links, metadata, and a revised sitemap. Existing URLs should remain where they still make sense.

Taking over from another developer

The first step is confirming access to the code, hosting, domain, database, backups, and services the application depends on. I document how the site runs and separate urgent repairs from later improvements.

For a stalled or abandoned build, see software project rescue. For larger architectural changes, see legacy modernization.

Ongoing maintenance

Maintenance can include bug fixes, dependency updates, small improvements, and checks on integrations or scheduled work. Coverage, response expectations, and deployment responsibilities are agreed for the engagement; this is not an automatic 24-hour support promise.

How much will a PHP website revamp cost?

It depends on the condition of the code and the changes you need. A layout update, a runtime upgrade, and a database redesign are different jobs. I can discuss an initial scope after seeing the site; unfamiliar or undocumented systems may need a paid assessment before a reliable estimate.

What information helps me assess the work?

Send the public URL, what is wrong, what you want changed, and any hosting deadline. Include the PHP or framework version if you know it. It is fine if you do not.

Tell me what you need changed or built.

Send a short description and the website address if there is one. I’ll review it and respond directly.
